Wu’s passion for storytelling extends to his role as a producer and cinematographer for “Late Life: The Chien-Ming Wang Story,” which received multiple awards and a nomination for Best Documentary at the 55th Taipei Golden Horse Awards.
Wu’s work is characterized by a profound ability to capture the raw authenticity of real-life stories. He excels at uncovering deep truths in documentaries and conveying the essence of human emotions. His cinematic portraits transcend mere observation, offering an illumination of humanity that resonates deeply with audiences.
The seeds of Wu’s cinematographic journey were planted in his childhood. His bedroom walls were covered with “storyboards” he had drawn, much to his father’s dismay. After several failed attempts to redirect his creative energy through poetry classes, swimming lessons, and Taekwondo (which resulted in even more damage), his father handed him a vintage film camera. This gift sparked a lifelong passion for photography and cinematography, and HaiTao has been capturing the world through his lens ever since.
